Composition 3

These photos exhibit three different principles of compositions in photography. Symmetry is when the two halves of the photos are identical. This concept can be found in the world, or be achieved through editing through the use of a mirror effect. Balance is when the two halves of the photos are made up of similar elements but are not identical to each other. Finally, asymmetry is when the two halves of the photo are different from each other.

Pictorial Lines

A pictorial line is a concept of photography, which has strategies that can be utilized to make better photos. Three strategies are shown here, which are: an arrangement of lines, lines pointing to a subject, and decorative lines. An arrangement is when lines are the only subject of the photo, and make up the entirety of the photo. Without these lines, the photo would have nothing in it. Another concept is lines leading, or pointing to the subject. The lines aren't the subject, they just lead the viewer to the subject of the photo. The last concept is decorative lines, which is when lines decorate the photo. The lines aren't the subject, they don't even necessarily have to be on the subject, they just must be present to make the photo look more interesting.

Depth

These photos all exhibit an example of the illusion of depth in photography. I used three strategies in my photos: Leading lines, repetition and depth staging. Leading lines are lines within the photo that lead the viewer from the front of the photo to the back. Repetition means that an object or pattern repeats over and over to give the illusion that this pattern might go on much longer than it does and show distance. Finally, depth staging means having an object in the foreground, and another in the background to highlight distance or dept between the two.
