Portraits

This project was an attempt to try to take portrait photos in the style of photographer Richard Avedon. The rules to taking these types of photos are:
  • Capture real emotion (no staging), especially in the eyes
  • Photographer uses prompts to get genuine reactions


  • White background
  • Black and White filter only
  • No props or distractions
  • Good lighting, with no shadow
  • Square cropping
  • Close/ Direct on angling.

    I really enjoyed the photos that were blurry. It almost made it a ghost like feel to it which is really awesome. I like how there are no facial expressions and you are showing the emotion through the eyes
